The man opens his mouth to argue again, but Arcade beats him to it. "Listen. We know we're just wasting your time, and that it's not your job to be a teacher. And probably even that 3000 caps isn't enough to pay you back for making you stand in your doorway for the past five minutes when you didn't want to. We're not trying to mock you or make it seem like we don't respect you. I know how hard to is to live in the wasteland when you have different preferences, and I can't claim to know what you've had to go through to get here."

Jimmy's mouth shuts, and he loses the petulant look.

Arcade takes it as a good sign and continues. "You know how hard it is to find a good person in this messed up world. This guy found one. And wants to keep him. Can you help us? Anything at all, really."

There's a delay, then Jimmy nods. "Give me a minute to put on my face." He slips inside and the door closes behind him. Arcade sighs outward.

As soon Jimmy disappears from view, Neil whistles lowly. His eyes stay focused on Arcade.

"You're pretty freakin' smooth, you know that?"

"Not likely," he retorts. "I'm well-known for my awkward innuendo and come-ons involving science experiments. Not the smoothest thing for most."

"But that wasn't an innuendo or a come-on," Neil protests, "now was it? Sometimes being smooth is just being a good guy."

He adjusts his glasses, looking away. "I don't know if you can call me a good guy...."

The door opens again, Jimmy again leaning against a doorway. "A good guy would help his friend with his relationship while not getting any yourself. Do you want to stay afterward Mr. Gannon?"

Arcade sputters loudly, and Jimmy ends up laughing. It takes the edges off of his expression. "Tom told us about a few of you. A scientist doctor with a sharp tongue and a good mind? I think I guessed correctly."

Neil tries to do the polite, friend-thing by swallowing his laughter. The attempt succeeds, for the most part.

"Sounds about right," he gives benignly.

Neil gets a glare regardless, then Arcade tries to swallow his embarrassment. "Thank you for the offer, but I really couldn't."

Jimmy gives Arcade a slow once over, raking his form. "Too bad," he says breathily. "You'd probably give me a run for my money."

Resisting the urge to scream, he again protests. "No, I-- Neil, don't you have something to do?"

"Oh, right." Jimmy turns to Neil. "Come in. I'll have to show you a bit and I don't want to flash our dear doctor when he's already starting to blush. Unless you want a show?"

Now he does blush. "No, you two... enjoy yourselves."
