Washington darts a glance at Alex, but the man's face was neutral. He risks it. "He got hurt. His friend--" He points a thumb at Alex. "--Brought him here to fix him up. Looked pretty bad."

Alex digests the sentences given, then licks his lips. "Your commander decided that an eyebot was enough of a reason to dismantle Project Purity and kill the Savior of the Wastes. I disagreed with that."

Drew unfreezes from his shock, rage thawing his features. "They were going to attack the Project? After everything--"

A second later, Washington interrupts. "He was really willing to hurt the kid?"

Cooper looks across the room at Alex. "Either way," Alex says evenly. "He never got the chance."
