Arcade watches the lumbering brahmin, and remembers the story Alex told him of the Nightkin stalking the two-headed cows. One of Alex's first "good deeds," if the truth is told, and Arcade finds it telling. That Alex first helped the "common folk" over the damn groups that were trying to take this territory.

He remembers this. Remembers the good in the person he follows in order to remember the good in himself.
